Is it normal that I cannot keep my leg up straight during this exercise 8:06 ? And will it become easier with time?

i have a dysplasia of the hip which make walking and standing up kinda painful, i try to follow this work out at the end of the day whenever i can and it relieves my hip so much, thanks !
